I have worked in projects for the Belgian Railways (ticket production), the Antwerp regional television (teletext), ISABEL (electronic commerce) and the regional public administration Vlaamse Landmaatschappij (geographic metadatabase).
15 Nov 1993 15 Oct 1994 Project Leader for Lasion Europe, a company specializing in multimedia products for the medical sector. With two collaborators I developed a diet monitor called (in Dutch) NUBEL Voedingsplanner, which was well received by the Flemish press and was afterwards presented in Ghent at the 1996 technology exhibition Flanders Technoland.
1 Oct 1986 14 Nov 1993 Research Assistant at the University of Antwerp, mostly for the Belgian National Science Foundation NFWO, temporarily suspended during my 11-month army service. I have organized courses for mathematics and physics students, and I did research in applied mathematics. In 1989-1990 I worked for seven months as a visiting research student at the University of Warwick (UK) Mathematics Institute.
2 Jun 1991 1 May 1992 Conscript Soldier. I was one of the last 'cabinet soldiers', working as a network administrator for Ministers Hugo Schiltz and Wivina Demeester - De Meyer. In the evening I taught programming at the Landelijke Bediendencentrale, Sudermanstraat 5, 2000 Antwerp, Belgium.
